Why Diners Choose Us Over a Local Thai Restaurant in Mexborough
Mexborough sits out west on the River Dearne, between Manvers and Denaby. It's beyond the streets we cover for standard delivery, so this page leads with what most Mexborough customers do - drive in for a sit-down, or collect on the way through. The run into Doncaster is along the A6023 and the main road, with travel time depending on traffic.
There is a particular reason Mexborough matters to us. Head Chef Rin cooked for years at Thai Garden Cafe in Manvers, just up the road, and knows the Dearne Valley well. The town has a strong identity of its own - the old Montagu Hospital on Adwick Road, the Co-op flour mill by the Don Navigation, the railway heritage of "Mexborough Loco". For an evening out with restaurant-quality Thai, we are a straightforward run away.
- Intimate, unhurried, cooked to order
- BYO with no corkage - bring your own wine or beer
- Full vegan, halal, GF-adaptable menu
- Card in person or by phone for collection
- A drive along the A6023, depending on traffic
The route from Mexborough follows the A6023 east through Swinton, picking up the A630 at Conisbrough and running the dual carriageway into Doncaster town centre. The road passes the Conisbrough Castle turning and drops you near the Frenchgate and Markets Car Park, a short walk from Copley Road - park once and walk.
If you are ordering by phone for collection, payment is straightforward. We send a secure card link by text - you enter the details and submit before setting off. Your food is boxed and ready when you arrive. Cash and card in person are both fine too.
Mexborough has its own food scene along the high street and the Adwick Road corridor, but specialist Thai is a gap the town has carried since Thai Garden Cafe at Manvers closed. That is part of the reason this page exists - the Dearne Valley still wants the cooking, and the run in is a short one.
Dine-In or Collect Thai Food from Mexborough
Dine in, or collect on the way
From Mexborough the simplest options are a sit-down booking or a collection on the way through. The A6023 puts you on Copley Road, a drive plenty of regulars have been making in for years - including a steady trickle from Swinton and Wath who knew Rin at Thai Garden Cafe in Manvers.
For Dine-in
Quieter than a pub kitchen, slower than a takeaway counter - a small dining room on Copley Road, every dish put together when you sit down to order it. Bring a bottle in from home with no corkage. Mexborough customers tend to make a proper evening of it - a date night or a small family table works particularly well for the trip in.
For Collection
Ring through with what you want, fifteen minutes later it is boxed and ready at 67 Copley Road. Most Mexborough orders coming our way are collected on the drive back from town - card by phone is fine, or settle up when you arrive.
Delivery
Mexborough sits just outside our regular delivery zone. We can sometimes deliver on quieter weeknights - give us a call and we'll give you a straight answer.
If you have not eaten with us before: the menu runs the full range of Thai curries, the noodle dishes most Mexborough customers know - Pad Thai, Pad See Eew, Pad Kee Mao - plus Tom Yum and Tom Kha soups built fresh per bowl. Rin's handmade starters are made in-house, and her dark noodle soup is the one to ask for if you want something off the usual list. Halal chicken and beef across the mains, full vegan menu alongside.

Restaurant-quality Thai cooking
Head Chef Rin has cooked Thai food across South Yorkshire for over a decade, much of it in the Dearne Valley - years at Thai Garden Cafe in Manvers, a stint at Khao Niew in Barnsley, then the kitchen at Happy Cha Bubble Tea before opening Charm Thai Cafe on Copley Road. The curry pastes are imported direct from Thailand, the same Mae Ploy pastes used in Bangkok kitchens, but the sauces, stocks, Pad Thai sauce, satay sauce, the spring rolls and dumplings are all made in our kitchen.
For Mexborough in particular, the BYO with no corkage is worth knowing about. Make the trip in, bring a bottle from home, and we provide the glasses - there is no licensed bar on site, so you bring whatever you fancy. If you want authentic Thai food cooked by someone who learned the trade up your way, the run into Doncaster is a short one.
Nearby Conisbrough is a similar trip in from the Dearne and Don valleys - there is a page for that too.
Mexborough sits within the wider stretch of South Yorkshire our diners travel in from. For the full picture of the restaurant on Copley Road, see our Doncaster restaurant page.
