A lot of vegan menus feel like an afterthought - a plain stir fry, a couple of salads, not much else. At Charm Thai Cafe in Doncaster, the vegan menu is built the same way as everything else. Authentic Thai ingredients sourced from Thailand, cooked to order by Rin - our Head Chef with over 10 years of Thai cooking experience across South Yorkshire.

You'll find vegan options across every part of the menu. All six Thai curries are available vegan. Our Vegan Pad Thai is made without egg entirely - not substituted, simply left out, which is how it should be done. The Vegan Oyster Sauce Stir Fry uses a mushroom-based vegan oyster sauce. It's not a compromise - it's the real thing. Many vegan mains are also adaptable as gluten free on request - coeliac-friendly too if you let our team know when you order.

Vegan Thai Questions

Is fish sauce used in your vegan Thai dishes?
No. When you order from the vegan menu, fish sauce is replaced with soy sauce and other vegan seasonings. Rin prepares vegan dishes with care to avoid cross-contact, using vegan oyster sauce in the stir fries and skipping fish sauce in the curries. Always tell us at the point of ordering that you need it vegan.
Is coconut milk vegan? It is in most of your curries.
Yes, coconut milk is fully vegan - it is pressed from the flesh of mature coconuts with water added. Our green, red, yellow, panang and massaman curries all use coconut milk and are vegan when ordered with tofu or vegetables instead of meat. The only curry that does not contain coconut milk is the jungle curry, which is also naturally vegan.
Are your vegan Pad Thai and Pad See Eew completely egg-free?
Yes. Both omit egg entirely - we do not use a substitute, we simply leave it out. Vegan Pad Thai still includes the fresh-mixed tamarind sauce, rice noodles, beansprouts and crushed peanuts. Vegan Pad See Eew uses the wide 10mm rice noodles in vegan-friendly soy sauce with broccoli and tofu.
What's in your vegan Oyster Sauce Stir Fry?
It uses a proper mushroom-based vegan oyster sauce - not the standard oyster sauce with the seafood omitted. The dish runs with mixed vegetables and your choice of tofu or extra vegetables. The menu lists it as "in vegan oyster sauce" to make clear it is the vegan version, not adapted on the fly.
