Intake sits just over a mile east of our kitchen on Copley Road, on the far side of Town Fields and Town Moor. The drive takes around five to seven minutes depending on which street - across the Town Moor, down Wainwright Road or Beechfield Road, and into the estate proper. Whether the order is coming from the streets near Sidney Road and Intake Primary School, the homes off Coniston Road and Plover Primary, the houses around Sandringham Road, or anywhere on the Wheatley Hills border, we cover the whole patch.
Intake is one of the larger Doncaster suburbs - close to 11,000 people - and it is one of the easiest patches for us to reach quickly because of how close it sits to Copley Road. The post-war estates that make up most of the area give it a settled residential feel, and we get steady orders from families and from single-portion regulars across the whole patch. Halal & vegan in Intake: Halal chicken and beef are available across the mains. The full vegan menu runs alongside the standard one, with proper vegan oyster sauce for stir fries and vegan Pad Thai that omits egg entirely. Coconut milk in the curries is vegan by default.

The shape of Intake
Intake is one of Doncaster's larger inner suburbs, sitting directly east of the town centre across Town Fields and Town Moor. Most of the area grew up as council housing through the 1950s and 1960s, when post-war Doncaster was expanding rapidly, but the boundary with Town Fields gives Intake a slightly greener edge than other suburbs of the same vintage. The Town Moor itself is one of the oldest pieces of common land in the borough.
The streets are laid out around a couple of long spine roads - Beechfield Road, Wainwright Road, Sidney Road - with the schools, the Intake Library and the small parade of shops scattered through the middle. The eastern edge of the estate runs into Wheatley Hills, and Armthorpe is the next village out beyond that. For us, Intake is one of the most reliable patches to reach in a hurry - if you phone at six on a Friday evening, the food and the drive together usually take less than twenty minutes from end to end.
