Thai Delivery in Sprotbrough
A short run west, across the Don
Sprotbrough sits about three miles west of our kitchen on Copley Road, on the other side of the River Don and the Sheffield and South Yorkshire Navigation. The drive takes around ten to twelve minutes - over the river and up Sprotbrough Road, into the village proper. Whether the order is coming from the old village core around Main Street and Church Lane, the streets running off Boat Lane down toward the Boat Inn and the river, or the newer estates spreading toward Anchorage Lane and the Bentley Rise edge, we cover the whole patch.
Sprotbrough has long had a slightly different feel to most of the Doncaster villages - it grew up around the river and the limestone gorge rather than around a colliery, and the Grade I listed St Mary's Church has been at its centre since the twelfth century. The streets near Brompton Road, the homes around Park Drive and Melton Road, the houses tucked behind the Spring Lane junction - we have run orders to all of them. No minimum order, and we will get a hot meal to you whether it is for one quiet night in or a Sunday gathering.

The shape of Sprotbrough
Sprotbrough sits to the west of Doncaster on the steep wooded banks of the River Don. The village has medieval roots - it shares a civil parish with Cusworth and was once known locally as “The Happy Village” in nineteenth century accounts. The Grade I listed St Mary's Church on Main Street has been there in some form since the early twelfth century, and the Boat Inn on Boat Lane has watched the river traffic come and go since the Sheffield and South Yorkshire Navigation was cut in the 1740s.
Beyond the village itself, the limestone Don Gorge gives Sprotbrough its character - the wooded walks down to Sprotbrough Falls on the river, the towpath along the navigation, and the Trans Pennine Trail running through. Sprotbrough Hall, the Copley family seat built in the 1680s, was demolished in 1926 - its rubble still sits under the foundations of houses on Brompton Road. The combination of riverside walking country and an established residential village makes it an easy run for us to cover.
If you are over in Cusworth on the next ridge across, or down in Bentley across the river, or further out at Cantley on the eastern side of town, we have dedicated pages for those too.
