Stainforth sits around five miles north east of our kitchen on Copley Road - a run out past Hatfield toward the Thorne direction. The drive from us takes around 12 to 15 minutes depending on traffic. Whether the order is from the streets in the older part of town near St Mary's Road and Station Road, or the homes on the eastern side toward the canal, we cover the whole village.

Stainforth is a former mining village that sits in the flat land between Doncaster and Thorne. The New Junction Canal runs to the east, and the surrounding landscape is open and low-lying. Stainforth is a village in the Doncaster Metropolitan Borough, sitting in the flat landscape between Doncaster and Thorne. It grew as a colliery settlement in the twentieth century and is closely associated with the nearby Hatfield Main Colliery, which closed in 2015. The New Junction Canal forms the eastern boundary, connecting the area to the wider waterway network.

The village has its own character distinct from neighbouring Hatfield, with St Mary's Church at its centre and a compact layout of residential streets. The approach from Doncaster is straightforward - out on the Hatfield road and into Stainforth from the south.
